Internet Marketing – Beware of Internet Marketing Dream Merchants

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

There are so many different business opportunities available on the Web; the never-ending stream of offers that will lead you to untold riches. Everybody claims to have the “inside knowledge” that will put you on Easy Street! Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

That scenario is particularly painful for Internet beginners lacking the advanced researching skills of more seasoned Netizens. Nevertheless, is there a way for most inexperienced surfers to ascertain the initial merits of a particular offer?

There is a general procedure to dissect and examine most Internet Marketing offers, in broad terms. The bulk of the offers can be classified into two categories: Dream Merchants and Web Specific Products. They have unique qualities that are very obvious once you study them. Follow me and I’ll show you how to recognize each one.

The Dream Merchant:

I’m going to describe a real world, brick-and-mortar analogy to help you understand what the Dream Merchant sells. Let’s say you walk into a retail outlet and the sales clerk mentions an idea that’s going to make you rich! He sounds very excited and full of enthusiasm!

He then continues to tell you all the benefits you’ll get from the “great idea.” Curiously, every time you ask him what it is, he never gives you a strait answer! He continues to pump you up while never revealing what it is he’s selling. By now, your expectation is at a fever pitch; you gotta have it!

So you corner the silver tongued sales clerk and ask him, point blank. He then produces a little book and informs you that it contains the “great idea” and it will cost you $100! You pay for the book and he quickly scampers out the door with your money. As you open it, it says: Do to the next guy what I just did to you!

I know the above scenario is rather simplistic but it does occur all the time on the Web. That kind of business is selling you a dream! The dream is the product! You must continue to sell the dream to the next guy. Do you want to become a Dream Merchant? I don’t think so!

Beware of any company that requires an up-front investment to become an affiliate member. They pump you up with dreams of big money and the good life. Then the pressure starts for you to purchase all kinds of products from them. Some of the items are ordinary household supplies; quite mundane! Let’s face it: When was the last time you heard anybody getting excited about dishwashing liquid?

Web Specific Products:

As you investigate online business opportunities I’m sure you’ve become aware of needs that are specific to Web based businesses. No matter what a Website is selling, its owner will purchase some items that are necessary for doing business on the Internet.

Another thing about selling Web business specific products is that you are, in fact, selling a product. That is such a comforting thought! There is a basic demand for your product and it doesn’t matter if your family or friends buy a heap of them!

The list of Web specific products is endless, here are a few:

Domains: You gotta have a name!

Hosting: Every Web business needs a home.

Website Design: Build and decorate your home. Writing: Fill your home with content.

Copywriting: Write about your product and make it sell!

Images: Let folks see what it looks like.

The products above are the most basic items an Internet centered business needs. A name for its business and a place to call home; the ability to do a written presentation with images. You can’t go wrong selling any of those listed products. The competition will be great but you’ll have an endless supply of new customers.

The following products are of a secondary nature. I’m including them because they will gain importance as we go into our Broadband future. As a matter of fact, most will be considered a necessity! Some are already widely used but will have new features when implemented for Broadband.

Audio:

When visitors hear your voice it lets them know you are a person, not just a Website.

Video:

So much better! You can present products, lessons, courses. Video is going to be big!

Scripts:

A great way to build an Opt In list and discover the buying habits of your visitors. Scripts can be used in so many ways to enhance your visitor’s experience.

AutoResponders:

Follow up to the initial customer contact is so important. A Sequential AutoResponder is a must for doing business on the Web. If you haven’t already, get one!

Of course, there are many more Web specific business products. Most are connected with promotion and advertising. Some that come to mind: Traffic exchanges, message boards, linking automation applications, turnkey website packages, just to name a few.

When all is said and done, you’re the only person that will make the decision about your business choice. However, if you are more comfortable selling a real product that fulfills a real need, the list is endless! The Web is so young it guarantees the supply of new customers will continue for many, many years to come.

Marketing – New Marketing And Promotional Ideas

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

New marketing and promotional ideas! Free! Most are related to internet-based businesses, but even those can usually be adopted in some way to other businesses. Here are half a dozen marketing ideas to get you thinking.

A one-hour coupon. Offline businesses that want to increase the traffic to their websites can announce an “internet coupon” good for a free drink (or whatever). The coupon would be up on the site for an hour, sometime on a Friday, say. Visitors will return again and again to try to be there at the right time to get the freebie. If you collect pay-per-click advertising fees, this repeat traffic might be especially profitable.

Free gift article teaser. A free gift is certainly not a new marketing idea, but it hasn’t been done much in internet article “resource boxes.” My click-throughs from articles increased when I started putting in the author’s resource box, “For more information and a free gift, visit…” The gift is usually a short course, or an e-book. If you don’t want to write an e-book, you can find one with free distribution rights.

Word links for sale. Maybe you have heard about the entrepreneur that sold a million pixels on one web page for a dollar each. Advertisers could buy a minimum of 100, and the image would link to their site. I’ve seen many copycats, but I haven’t yet seen anyone selling words. This could be even better for advertisers, because they could buy the words that are relevant to their products. A page full of random words isn’t pretty, but these things get publicity and traffic for their novelty.

Product user contests. If you have a product that’s used in many ways or many places, this is a great promotional gimmick: a contest to see who has used their cell phone, watch, or whatever in the wildest place or the most unusual way. (”I took my walkman to the north pole!”) Customers could post their stories and photos directly to your company web site. They wiould return repeatedly to see new stories, and the results of the competition.

Advertising on cereal boxes. A lot of time is spent staring at cereal boxes. Perhaps you could get a good rate on advertising on them. There have had some advertising, but no boxes covered in ads yet. Brokering ad space on cereal boxes could be a good business to get into.

Pay for article placement. Many of us distribute articles to generate traffic to our web sites, and many also pay to advertise. Since articles are especially good marketing tools, why not pay to have other webmasters put them on their sites? This is done for free now, but not often enough. Maybe offer a small one-time fee, with a minimum time commitment. Explain that leaving the article there forever can generate search engine traffic.

Put ads on private cars, advertising on sidewalks, have a contest to see who can get your product mentioned on and seen on TV – there are endless possibilities for new marketing and promotional ideas.

Marketing – Internet Marketing Tools to Drive Targeted Visitors to Your Site.

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

>

Internet marketing tools are used by those who own websites, and those who want to see more traffic flowing through their sites, are you a web site owner wanting more traffic and sales? We have answers, and examples of all the tools needed to get you through the many options available. Business online is growing at a very fast pace, and with the help of a bit of marketing, a plan, and tools to set your plan in motion you can get additional traffic to your site.

What will additional marketing do for your website? Using Internet marketing tools, you will find better placement in search engine positions and rankings. As you get additional pages and as you reach higher rankings, spiders will continually crawl your pages, and drive additional traffic to your site through even more search engines. Without marketing, your site could take a very long time; years in fact, to get traffic to your site, and for your business to see real results in the online sales.

As you drive visitors to your site using marketing tools, you will also need to focus on converting those visitors into customers, paying customers bringing you additional sales. To do this, additional tools will be used to take note and record who is visiting your site, who is most interested in your products. As you learn more about who is visiting your sites, you can use this marketing data to create additional content for this market and convert the visitors to customers by offering more of what they want. Track those who are visiting your site, and learn where they are going next, to see exactly what they are looking for so you can focus your tools on these markets, these visitors and get more sales.

Improve your ranking and positions by using Internet marketing tools you can find on these pages. We have the information and the methods proven to drive visitors to your site, convert them into buyers and increase your sales. Boost your sales and build your business online using the many tools available. You can use tools such as cookies, to track where your customers have been and where they are clicking before and after landing on your site.

Using the tools available online you will reduce your fees in marketing through other methods. If you are using pay per click, or you are using any other pay per ad methods you are already paying too much. The fees you are paying are not giving you the real marketing value you need. You want to get up there in the ranks of the various search engines, with content, by providing what the customers want, and you can do this with internet marketing tools, and you never have to pay again. The more you advertise you are lowering the over all profits for your business, but when you market, and drive traffic to your site you will see your bottom line increase faster, and with a much healthier future.

Driving traffic and building a business online does take a lot of planning and time, but one thing you want to do is save money so paying for advertising and paying for other links to your site is not going to do the trick. The trick in making and building a solid business, a solid traffic pattern online is going to be in your internet marketing tools. The tools that you choose to find out more about your market, who is visiting, when they are visiting, what they are seeing the most of, and then taking advantage of this information to convert customers into buyers from your site.

Marketing – Marketing By Prospecting?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Marketing by Prospecting – a system of using marketing tools with prospecting skills.

It is a strategy designed primarily for the small to medium sized business that doesn?t have a large marketing budget. Also, for divisions within large companies that simply don?t get the big marketing dollars.

Marketing by Prospecting first involves preparing the variety of marketing tools we use to grow our business. Then, the means we use to get these marketing tools in front of our potential customers is Prospecting skills.

Because the lines between Marketing and Prospecting tend to blur quickly, why not just face facts – our Marketing work requires Prospecting skills -hence, Marketing by Prospecting.

By the way, the reverse also has implications here, Prospecting by Marketing?, but we will address that somewhat differently, more on that later.

As I have been writing for the last few weeks, our efforts for Prospecting in the Global Marketplace involve all the tools used in both our marketing and prospecting programs.

If you have a budget for running TV or mass media campaigns, this material is not for you.

By Marketing we are trying to get the world to know about the products and services we offer.

By Prospecting we are trying to reach the individuals in the world who can buy our products and services.

With small budgets, Marketing by Prospecting can be a very effective use of our marketing dollars.

The marketing materials tools that we create and use are usually ? Flyers, Brochures, Pamphlets, Newsletters, Websites, and even PowerPoint presentations.

Two additional Marketing by Prospecting tools that you should consider areArticle writing and Public Speaking.

Writing articles and having them published is really easy these days with the internet.
Write about the various ways your products and services are being utilized to the benefit of your customers.

There are dozens of web article submission services that will publish your articles and provide them to e-zines along with your contact information including your website.

This may be the perfect way to get published, but realize there are 1,000?s of others doing this, so we aren?t alone in this market. But it does get your name and information out there. I have had 15 articles published on 6 different submission sites in the last week and they are popping up all over the place.

I entered my name in Google, and found a lot of my articles listed. I don?t have a feel yet for what this will generate business wise, but it is another marketing tool and it is absolutely FREE.

If you are able to get published in the ?old style? standard media, newspapers and magazines I suggest you take advantage of them. I know these take time and effort, but pursue this route if you like.

The web submission can be done right now, so give both a shot.

Speaking to association meetings, trade show conferences, corporate meetings, and other events may not be for everybody, but it is a tool I personally really like.

You will need to prepare a speech, of course. Then your marketing materials will consist of a brief overview of the speech and short bio telling why you are the expert on this subject they should hear. Then you will need to use your Prospecting skills to get that one page document into the hands (or onto the computer screen) of the meeting planner, program chairman, or who ever books the speakers.

Start off with small local groups, maybe ones in which you may be a member.

So there you have it, the idea of Marketing by Prospecting. Hopefully it is something we can all use to grow our businesses using the tools of both skills. We will continue with this discussion in the coming weeks.

Let me know your thoughts and ideas so we can all share in this Brain Trust.

Internet Marketing – Internet Marketing Help

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

If youre looking for Internet marketing help youve come to the right place. Below you will find several tips to help you navigate your way through the mystifying world of promoting your website and e-commerce business.

Internet Marketing Help Hint #1: Surveys: To find out what your customer thinks of your site try using a survey. A little constructive criticism can go a long way in helping you build a quality site that people are eager to visit and refer others to visit. There are very few other ways to find out what your customer really thinks, wants and needs besides a survey. If youre concerned that people wont take the time to complete a survey you can always entice them with something for free in exchange for completing the survey or even adding their name to a pool for a giveaway.

Internet Marketing Help Hint #2: Guestbook: Members of your target audience that are skeptical by nature want some reassurance that youre who you say you are and that your product or service really delivers. Adding a guestbook to your site can help to reassure your customer by providing comments from others who visited your site, found something useful and were satisfied. If you are concerned that you might end up with rude or vulgar comments that hurt your reputation more than help, it is very easy to add a guestbook that allows you to preview any comments before they are posted. With this type of guestbook you have the control over whether to delete a comment or allow it to be inserted on your site. One bad apple doesnt have to spoil the basket.

Internet Marketing Help Hint #3: Coupons: There is a significant portion of your target audience that are coupon clippers. No matter who they are, you can bet some of them cant wait to get the newspaper and start clipping away. While this ploy wont work for everyone, there are some people who cant resist the lure of a bargain; saving a percentage off the regular price of a product or service. They will be more than happy to visit your site once a week to find out how much money they can save with the coupons you offer. If youre concerned about taking a piece out of your profit try combining offers. Two for one or 10% with a minimum purchase gives you the flexibility of still offering a valuable coupon to the customer while making sure your profits dont take a dip.
